Despite living at Garforth with the railway running past the bottom of the garden, it was only in 1985 aged 15 when a trip to Leeds, and the sight of D200 served to provoke an interest in railways.
After 3 years of spotting and bashing there were other distractions, until 2002 after moving to Guisborough, and old enough to know better that a glance over the bridge at Tees Yard, and amazement at the sight of stored 56s that the interest was reignited.
